Lyrics - The Call
🎵 The Call
Khmer Style
"A deeply personal journey of regret, sacrifice, and rediscovery, sparked by one life-changing phone call."
At twenty-five, I built a new road,
Long hours, low pay, but I carried the load.
Served their tables, learned their ways,
But my heart was lost in endless days.
Smiles were fake, laughs ran dry,
Each shift passed like a stranger’s sigh.
I told myself, this is how it’s done?
But deep inside, I felt like none.
Then one night, the silence broke,
A voice I knew, a trembling tone.
"She’s in the hospital, she’s not okay,"
And suddenly, I lost my way.
ម៉ែត្រូវការវះកាត់បេះដូង
(Mae needs heart surgery)
So I packed my bags, left it behind,
What is life if love is blind?
Years were wasted, miles apart,
Now I return with an open heart.
I should’ve known, I should’ve stayed,
Time’s too cruel, it slips away.
Now I stand by her side,
Hoping I made it back in time.
The home I left still smelled the same,
My mother weak, but called my name.
I saw the lines across her hands,
Each one a story I now understand.
She smiled through pain, and held me close,
Her love, the thing I needed most.
She said no words, but I could see,
That love had always waited for me.
